The watermill at Loonbeek belonged to the castle of Loonbeek and was already mentioned in 1495. The Geuzen destroyed the mill, and the older buildings date back to the 17th century. It was a bannermill and all residents of the lordship of Loonbeek were required to grind their grain in this mill.
The complete installation is still present and can be powered by a water turbine. The water wheel was replaced by a turbine in 1952. This is located in the small extension over the IJse. There are 2 grain mills present in this watermill.
Near the footbridge over the IJse by the watermill, there is a post for junction 216.
