C 16 (Brielstraat)
It is a cemented bunker with two embrasures. The embrasures are camouflaged as two windows which were hidden behind shutters. The corners were measured and the masonry was closed with a "lanteau". The masonry was also plastered with cement layer. Above this, a roof structure was placed with a slightly sloping roof of ± 30°. Whether the roof was actually installed is not certain.
Both rooms are equipped for the arrangement of only a Maxim machine gun.
Unlike the other command bunkers, this bunker had two chambers with embrasures. In most other command bunkers there was only one room for a machine gun. The other room served to hang the maps.
There were hooks and racks on the walls. The hooks for hanging all kinds of material such as helmet and backpack. The racks were iron hooks on which an oak plank was laid. The bullet tires were placed on this shelf. During the battle of Gijzenzele, the bunker was manned by the 6th Line Regiment. It was probably the command bunker of II/6.
