The mill Ter Geest and Te Zande is a windmill located in the municipality of Deerlijk in Belgium. It has been legally protected since 1944 by Royal Decree. It is the only one of many mills that has been preserved in Deerlijk.
A mill from 1768 stood at the same location initially. This was an oil mill that was heavily damaged during a violent storm in 1800. It could still be saved. In the 1820s, the Declercq family acquired the renovated mill and has owned it to this day; hence the locally used term Clerkskensmolen. Meanwhile, alongside oil pressing, grain milling also began. In 1888, the mill was completely destroyed by fire. A stone tower mill was built in its place. At the end of World War I – in 1918 – the mill was heavily damaged again due to fighting. A few years ago, the grain milling operation came to an end after they had previously also stopped the oil pressing.
