From the brochure: In this cemetery lay Belgian and 7 French soldiers from World War I. After World War II, 21 British soldiers were buried here. In 1968, the cemetery was vacated. Today, the monument reminds of the horrors of war.
Already in use during World War I, but the final layout dates from 1920. In addition to Belgian and seven French soldiers from World War I, 21 British soldiers who fell during World War II were also buried here. Around 1968, the cemetery was evacuated: 117 graves were transferred to the cemetery in Hoogstade, and the remaining fallen soldiers to that of Westvleteren. The British and Canadian soldiers, however, found their final resting place in the British military cemetery of Adegem.
At the street side, a red brick wall rhythmically accented with brick pillars and iron fencing. To the left at the street side, a closed red brick guard pavilion with a flat roof featuring decorative brickwork in a diamond pattern. The interior is opened up with a wooden baluster-shaped corner post and glass panel; as well as a particularly richly profiled cornice. At the back of the lot, seven pollarded lime trees remain from the central path. On the right side of the lot, parts of the former monument that was erected during World War I by the Second Army Division at this cemetery.
