Hoflandstraat no. 2 (to its right). Former Belgian military cemetery. Already in use during World War I, but the final layout dates back to 1920. In addition to Belgian and seven French soldiers from World War I, 21 British soldiers who fell during World War II were also buried here. Around 1968, the cemetery was cleared: 117 graves were transferred to the cemetery of Hoogstade, the remaining fallen soldiers to that of Westvleteren. The British and Canadian soldiers, on the other hand, found their final resting place in the British military cemetery of Adegem.
On the street side, a reddish brick wall rhythmically structured with brick pillars and an iron gate. To the left on the street side, a closed reddish brick guard pavilion with a flat roof featuring decorative brickwork in a checkerboard pattern. On the inside, open-worked with wooden baluster-style corner posts and glass sections; as well as a particularly richly profiled cornice. At the back of the plot, seven pollarded linden trees as a remnant of the central path. To the right on the plot, parts of the former monument erected during World War I by the Second Army Division at this cemetery.
