One of the former ponds in the Sneppekot. It is one of the most valuable parts of the pond area in Central Limburg, but... not as a pond! Due to dead plants, the pond grew dense, but it remained swampy under the influence of rainwater and nutrient-poor seepage water. In this way, a raised bog was created here, with gems such as peat mosses, common heath, peat fluff and legbreak. Above that, in summer, the spotted shining dragon and the almost completely red coral damselfly flash. The reed bunting, bluethroat and water ral feel at home in the reed-covered areas. Through management works, Limburgs Landschap vzw tries to prevent the reforestation of the Sneppekot, so that the rare species continue to have a chance.
