The abbey not only launched a basket of Averbode products, but also created the experience centre Het Moment on its domain where crafts are practiced again. For example, old service buildings were given a new purpose: now they house an abbey café with home brewery, a cheese ripening plant, a bakery and an abbey shop.
Het Moment strengthens and broadens the new "vocation" of Averbode as a gateway to the spacious Merode area in general and Poort Gerhagen in particular alone. At the same time, the abbey is protected as an oasis of silence, reflection, prayer and reflection.
Furthermore, the environmental quality was enhanced by the restoration of the existing lanes and the improvement of the paths.
