It was here in Les Fallaises near Rochehaut that Mathieu Lallemand fell on June 22, 2003 and later succumbed to his injuries.
He is the founder of the hiking club Randonée Sauvage . Interestingly, the first trip he ever organized was a trip here to the falls on September 19, 1977.
Randonnée Sauvage wants to keep Mathieu's spirit alive and organizes walks, hiking weekends and a summer walk.
The plaque is located along the GR16 on the Passeig de les Scales , a very adventurous hiking trail in Belgium. The ride has been closed several times for being too dangerous, but since investing €75,000 in a new staircase in late 2015, the ride is safe for anyone who can overcome the fear.
