Jet mill is first mentioned in 1374. Around 1700, Straalmolen was one of the five most profitable watermills in what is now the province of Antwerp.
In 1982 the current miller, Jef Druyts, joined the mill. By building an old Kempen barn opposite the mill, there is extra storage space and the business can be further expanded. Straalmolen is now one of the last water mills still operating professionally.
