The town hall, like St. Peter's Church, is an example of 15th-century Brabantine late Gothic architecture. The façade of the town hall is composed of a large number of niches on pedestals. The pedestals are sculpted representations from the Bible, each featuring the motif of sin and punishment. In the 19th century, the niches were filled with 236 figures of important figures from Leuven's history.
