The Scheldeveld and the Zeven Dreven are located on the territory of the municipality of De Pinte. Scheldevelde goes back to a medieval 'field' or 'wastina'. This area was part of the vast Scheldeholt or Carolingian king's fortress from Ghent to Sint-Eloois-Vijve. The vast and compact domain owned by St. Peter's Abbey was located just south of the confluence of the Scheldt and Lys and was also bordered by these watercourses.
