Clootsmolen Watermill

Former water mill on the Abeek. First mentioned in 1465. In 1539, it is recorded as the ban mill of the count of Horne, lord of Bocholt. The mill is shown on the Ferraris map (1771-77) and in the Atlas of Neighborhood Roads (1845). The old core consists of two opposing wings, the residential house and the service building, and the mill house in a small building by the creek. In its current state, the mill house and the service building are connected into one wing. The current residential house dates from the interwar period. The mill house, in its current appearance, dates from the first quarter of the 20th century. Brick building of two bays and one and a half stories under a gable roof (with mechanical tiles). Metal mill wheel; the mill is of the undershot type. The milling mechanism is still present, the mill is limited in its milling capacity.
