City Hall of Staden

Nr. 2/ Ieper- and Statiestraat. Town hall n.o.v. A. Van Coillie (Roeselare), year stone "1923", replacing the town hall that was destroyed during W.W. I a little further down Statiestraat. Incorporated coat of arms of the municipality of Staden (Statiestraat). Corner building of broad l.trav. as a risalit rising into a gable + two trav. + chamfered corner trav. and two construction layers under a hipped gable roof (n // Ieperstraat, mechanical tiles), octagonal roof lantern (slate). Simplified following the eclectic XIX d-architecture through material use such as yellow brick construction, bluestone (base) and simili-stone (bands and drip lists) and borrowing from form language such as loggia with baluster railing and little arch under lantern. However, stylized execution cf. the corbels and top pieces of the gables, the basket-arched window registers with extended drip lists, and the basket-arch portal in block framing with crowning three-part transom. Renewed woodwork. Adjacent on the right on Statiestraat, originally low concierge under a bent gable roof, replaced in 1982 by a police station n.o.v. G. Tybergien (Staden, cf. facade stone).
