Free primary school "De Leeuw", established in 1950 as a boys' school for the growing Sint-Elooi district. The girls of the district already had a school since 1942. Now the boys, who until then had to travel the long way to the village of Zedelgem every day, have a school closer to home. Architect Antoine Dugardyn (Bruges) designed a school building with a banquet hall in 1949. Initially, the ground floor was set up as an emergency church, and on the upper floor, four classrooms were provided. When the Sint-Elooiskerk is taken into use in 1960, space is freed on the ground floor for four more classrooms. Today, the building houses a branch of the school located at Pastor Staelensstraat number 4.
