Rhodesgoed Farm

No. 2. Historic farm so-called "Rhodesgoed", located to the W. of the Roobeek; former seat of the former seigneury of Rhode and Kachtem. Indicated on the "map of the lordship of Rhodes in the prochie of Cachtem" (1752), as a farm situated to the N. of the stream, with L-shaped plan, ramparts adjacent to the stream and long S. avenue. Farmhouse, now with predominantly late XIX - early XX view. Loose, low elements of anchored brick under tiled gable roofs, grouped around a partly cultivated and grazed yard shaded by two walnut trees, now intersected by Rhodes Street; iron gates between brick pillars mark the N. and S. yard entrances.Cobbled access path to the upper farmhouse. To the S.W. of the yard, farmhouse from XIX A cf. volume and braiding in side wall; five trav. + one upstairs trav.+ one stable trav. R. side façade with wickerwork, three round-arched windows including three later rabbit hutches; l. side façade with wickerwork, owl hole and XIX round-arch window adapted into a loading window cf. construction seams; Right. An extension under a gable roof probably leads to the potato cellar. Rear façade marked by a later extension under a pent roof. To the N.W., stable wing converted into wagon shed; Three buttresses mark the rear façade. To the S.W., elongated stable wing with accompanying barn under strongly cantilevered gable roof on piers; cornice in S. corner supported by beautifully elaborated wrought iron corbel; r. side façade with owl hole; Adapted roof pitch cf. construction seams. L., lower connecting stable wing under cantilevered gable roof on cast-iron columns; concrete manure heap in front of it. To the NE (behind the house), XX b chicory ast of three buildings. with washing installation.
