"Ceusterhuys", according to literature at least dating back to 1613. Initially a school of the Lord of Westmeerbeek and residence of the chaplain-janitor-teacher. From 1788 partly used by the municipal court and from 1845 completely taken over as town hall. Reorganized as a town hall in the 1930s; the layout provided for a public room, a council chamber-secretariat, a space for the land registry and the old archives, a public "people's library," a storage area, and a "wayhouse" (prison); the facade was designed with a neo-Gothic porch. In the 1950s, the town hall moved to Stationsstraat number 39 and the Ceusterhuys remained reserved as a library and polling station.
