If you drive into the smallest village of the Pajottenland, you will be charmed by a small statue of a witch. The witch is Marie Catier, one of the two women convicted of witchcraft in Beaver in the 16th century. It is the Makrallen association that keeps the witch folklore alive in Bever.
Thanks to the historical work of Dominique Delvin, we know that in the sixteenth century two women, Marie Catier and Tinneke Delval, were convicted in Bever. In 1976, when a game without borders took place between different hamlets of the municipality, the hamlet 'Beaver Place' was represented by witches in disguise. In 1977 the association de Makrallen was founded with the aim of making the folkloric history of Bever known.
