Saint Hubert Chapel

Sint-Hubertus Chapel located at the corner of Sint-Pietersmolenstraat. Protected as a monument by Ministerial Decision of 16/04/2004. The reconstruction of the Sint-Hubertus Chapel is a realization of pastor Ernest Verstraete in 1932. The original Sint-Hubertus Chapel disappeared during the Geuzen period at the end of the 16th century. The construction of the new chapel was anything but a reconstruction of the old chapel. Pastor Verstraete commissioned architect Luc Viérin to design a "modern" chapel. In 1996, the chapel underwent a consolidating "Artistic Restoration" designed by architect A. Dhondt (Bruges). The current chapel, dating back to 1932, was designed by the Bruges architect Luc Viérin. It is a rather simply built brick volume with a protruding volume at the corner conceived as a balcony for the blessing with the Holy Sacrament after the pilgrimage. The crowning wrought-iron cross is designed by J. Fonteyne (Bruges). Door in a natural stone frame above which is a façade stone with dating and a lantern with stained glass windows.
