This 8.8 ha state nature reserve was created in July 2016 following the LIFE Hélianthème project. Located on the right bank of the Amblève, near the village of Martinrive, the site presents itself as a steep rocky slope, exposed to the southwest, and therefore very thermophilic. Physically, it serves as a link between two other important sites, the rocks of Château d'Amblève to the east, and the Hagohé Quarry downstream. There are significant plant communities of great heritage interest, such as mesophilic and xerophilic calcareous grasslands, particularly rich from a floristic point of view, pioneer grasslands with orpins, rocky grasslands with creeping fescue (Festuca pallens), and fern communities in sunlit crevices with maidenhair spleenwort (Ceterach officinarum). Wooded areas are also present, along with thickets of thorny plants and remnants of black pine plantations, the majority of which were removed as part of the LIFE project. The fauna is still imperfectly known, with three species of reptiles and about fifteen species of day butterflies recorded to date.
