The Romans were well established in the south of the province of Luxembourg. Arlon was an important center at that time along the Roman road between Reims and Trier, known as Orolaunumvicus. The section of that road between Chameleux and Virton passed by Meix-devant-Virton. Its route is still partially visible here.
