Southeast of the residential core of Saint-Mard, the Ruisseau de Bruzeles flows, a stream, from the wooded heights to the Vire. Along its course, there are three large stones on which people from the Stone Age sharpened their flint weapons and tools. These stones are called polissoirs, and they are also known as Pierres des Fées (Fairy Stones) or Cailloux des Sorcières (Witch Stones). The hilly landscape near Saint-Mard can therefore certainly be called prehistoric.
