Grandcourt is hidden deep in a wooded valley, at the N885 (Ethe - Tellancourt). It is one of the southernmost villages in the country, so you immediately know to look for it in the furthest southern part of the province of Luxembourg, near the French border, about halfway between Virton and the French town of Longwy. In 1953, a Merovingian burial ground was discovered there. It lies on the border of the Land of Gaum (to the west) and the Land of Arlon (to the east). Once, the iron industry thrived there, as iron ore could be mined in the forests. In the past, the south-facing slopes were also covered with vineyards, and Grandcourt was widely known for its apple, pear, and plum orchards. But that is no longer the case now.
