The road between Thon and this chapel is one of rural beauty, above the plateau of the Condroz, expansive fields, and flower-filled verges.
The history of this charming chapel is just as atypical as the location where it was built in the middle of the countryside. The Chapelle du Fond d'el Côre, surrounded by some enormous lime trees, owes its name to the gratitude of two brothers who nearly had an accident here. In 1850, while the two travelers were passing through the region with their cart, a violent storm broke out. Frightened by the force of the storm, the horses bolted and dragged the two travelers along. Amazingly, the traces broke and the cart came to a halt. The two brothers were saved. This exceptional event led them to decide to erect a chapel for the Virgin Mary at the place where the cart stopped. On the key of the arch, the following inscription can be read: "NOTRE DAME / DE / BONSECOURS / PRIEZ POUR / NOUS / 1850". That the plea for her help has yielded results many times can be seen from the ex-votos in the chapel.
