Description

During the construction of the new building, the school had to be housed elsewhere. For this purpose, the Tienen Sugar Refinery had given up the premises of its "Patronaat" in the Beaudouinstraat. On November 18, 1953, the new buildings of the Athenaeum were inaugurated in the presence of the Minister of National Education, Mr. Harmel. The new Royal Athenaeum of Tienen forms an impressive ensemble of buildings. The length of the façade, overlooking Rue Gilain, is no less than 98.35 metres. The Royal Atheneum Tienen - den athenai - has a rich history of almost a hundred years to its name. In 2020 we want to celebrate this in an appropriate way.
