Feel Forest

The Feelbos is a forest area in the Flemish Ardennes in South-East Flanders. The Feelbos covers 11.76 hectares and is managed by a private owner. The hilly deciduous forest is located in the municipality of Kluisbergen. The Feelbos is a topographically rich source forest with ash, beech, and Canadian poplar as its dominant tree species. The biological valuation map describes the Feelbos as very valuable and its northern extension as valuable. In the well-developed herb layer of the forest, bittercress, giant horsetail, and spring bloomers such as bluebell, wood anemone, and lesser periwinkle grow. The forest is home to the vermilion beetle. The Feelbos is a European recognized Natura 2000 area and is part of the Flemish Ecological Network. Within the European nature objectives, an additional 350 hectares of forest will be created in the Flemish Ardennes over time; Kluisbos will be connected to the Koppenbergbos through the Feelbos, Beiaardbos, Fonteinbos, Ingelbos, Hotond-Scherpenberg, Kuitholbos, and Spijkerbos.
