Freÿr is the largest and highest climbing area in Belgium, located on the Meuse in the municipality of Hastière, five kilometers upstream from Dinant. The rock structure is geologically a stratified limestone formation from the Paleozoic era. This climbing massif has more than 600 routes in all styles and levels of difficulty and is the largest and most important climbing massif in Belgium. The highest rock is 120 meters high. The popularity of this massif is so great that the routes in the lower levels are very steeply climbed. Internationally, the Rochers de Freÿr are the most famous. However, the climbing of these rocks is reserved for climbers who comply with the conditions issued by the manager of these rocks.
