The Katharinenstift is a retirement home located in the village of Astenet, which is part of the Belgian municipality of Lontzen, on Nierstraße.
The complex was established in 1888 with donations from the Aachen entrepreneur Gerhard Rehm and his wife Katharina Rehm, after whom the foundation is named. Katharina was nursed by the Augustinians in a hospital in Neuss due to a serious illness. She died in 1887 after bequeathing part of her fortune to the sisters. Her husband used this money to create a foundation, which facilitated the construction of the aforementioned home, which would be managed by the aforementioned Augustinians.
