The site is located to the north of the village of Dailly and is one of the largest remaining limestone grasslands in this region. Once subjected to itinerant grazing by sheep, most of these open areas are now heavily overgrown or have been afforested. In the reserve, one can still find large areas of shallow soil where calcareous schists appear, as well as beautiful zones of open grasslands. A few black pines testify to an old attempt at planting. The flora is very rich: 225 plant species have been recorded, some of which, rare and protected, are typical of thermophilic limestone environments. The site is home to one of the only two stations of Blakstonia perfoliata in Wallonia. The entomological interest is considerable: numerous grasshoppers, crickets, and butterflies including the clouded yellow and the half-mourning... The viviparous lizard and the smooth snake hunt in the grassland and on sunny slopes. Management will involve gradual clearing of the thorny bushes and mowing, followed by the establishment of extensive grazing by sheep. (text: J.-L. Gathoye).
Public access: Access to the natural reserve will be limited to guided tours, during management works, or any other activities organized on the site and approved by the management commission. Motorized vehicles and all-terrain bicycles will not be allowed in the reserve, except for agricultural machinery and others intended for site management (mowing, clearing, etc.). Scientific studies will be encouraged and conducted after agreement from the management commission. For reasons of public safety, species protection, or management works, the management commission may temporarily prohibit certain accesses.
