This former brick clay extraction site is located immediately near the center of Welkenraedt and is grazed by horses. It features large, mostly treeless areas, including patches of heather and molinia heath, broom sedge, and several temporary and permanent wetlands. Overall very wet due to the nature of the substrate, it does, however, include a few small, drier sandy areas. The biological interest of this site lies in its dragonfly population, which includes some interesting species (Lestes barbarus, Ischnura pumilio) and in the presence of patches of heather heath.
