The Grignard Site is an ancient meander cut off from the Sambre located upstream of Lobbes. It features a regionally significant aquatic and riparian vegetation: a community of yellow water lily (Nuphar lutea) and lesser waterlily (Hydrocharis morsus-ranae), beds of spiked watermilfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum), fringing megaphorbia, a reed bed with the aquatic glyceria (Glyceria maxima), etc. The sandstone rocks dominating the northern bank of the pool host numerous ferns, including the rare black spleenwort (Asplenium adiantum-nigrum). A nearby wet pasture shelters an interesting hygrophilous flora including the tubular water-dropwort (Oenanthe fistulosa) and the dwarf skullcap (Scutellaria minor). Together, they form a remarkable and preserved transect!
