Description

Afspanning Den Eik, in the backyard of the abbey of Averbode, is owned by the non-profit association Kempens Landschap. It is perhaps one of the best bases to discover the princely Merode area, which stretches over the provinces of Antwerp, Limburg and Flemish Brabant.
The operator works together with various producers of regional products and you can see that on the menu.
Beer lovers can taste a Fliere whistler here, among other things.
Be sure to visit the nearby clog museum, where an old Kempen craft is revived.
There is also a clog experience path, where you can experience for yourself how handy (or inconvenient) this wooden footwear is. Bring an extra thick pair of socks, our delicate feet are no longer used to clogs.
