The Buitengoor is a nature reserve of 90 ha located between the cores of Sluis and Rauw in the municipality of Mol. The area is managed by Natuurpunt and is protected under European law as part of the Natura 2000 area 'Valley area of the Kleine Nete with springs, marshes, and heaths'.
It is a marshland where spring water occurs because the area gradually decreases in elevation from east to west. In addition to the acidic spring water, alkaline water from the Kempens Canal also enters the area through leaks from the higher located Dessel-Kwaadmechelen Canal that runs closely along the Buitengoor. This has led to the development of vegetation that includes lime-loving species.
