Briek Schotteplein (the Briek Schotte square) was built as a tribute to the Flandrien, who died in 2004. It has the works: a monument, a bust and a poster on a wall. Briek was a prolific winner: the Tour of Flanders (twice), Paris-Brussels, Paris-Tours, Ghent-Wevelgem and twice world champion. As a cycling star, Briek is the perfect person to advertise all kinds of products. In 1946 he lent his face to a campaign to promote sports clothing manufacturer Alex Sport. This square isn't on the cyclenetwork. Use the button on the top right of your screen to go to it and return with your gps. After that you can continue your route. Photo: Collection WieMu Roeselare.
