Brabantstraat

The Brabantstraat is, just like the Gentsesteenweg in Molenbeek, a shopping street with strong international connections. People from Brussels, Belgium, but also Dutch and French individuals of various origins come here to shop. Especially on Sundays, there is a true fair atmosphere, when the Arabic beats blast from the speakers and the street makes 40% of its revenue. Most shops are popular bazaars with clothing, travel bags, carpets, decorative lamps, olives and dates, pots and pans at low prices. Other businesses pay more attention to store design as they cater to a growing immigrant middle class. An annual window display award aims to give these boutiques a boost. However, a car-reduced shopping street would make it all so much more enjoyable.
