Like everywhere else in this country, we, too, would like to commemorate the military victims of the First World War appropriately. The municipal council of Dudzele decided on 30 July 1919 to build a chapel dedicated to the Sacred Heart. On the occasion of the inauguration on 6 June 1920, all veterans received a banner.
The neo-Gothic memorial chapel, next to the entrance to the cemetery and the church, is a striking presence in the village. Families and friends can, away from the hustle and bustle, remember their loved ones in all intimacy.
Later on, this chapel was also used to honour the fallen of WWII. Moreover, in 2010, all civilian victims of both world wars were accommodated there too.
In the cemetery next to the chapel, the honorary flowerbed is situated for veterans and fire cruisers. The local NSB department ensured that all the graves had an identical headstone: a crucifix with a stone circle with inscription in the middle.
