At the foot of the monument for the fallen infantrymen, there are several well-oriented benches. They offer a view over the Zenne Valley, all the way to Pajottenland in the west. In places like this, with a wide view over the city, you can experience calm. An overview provides peace. As your gaze wanders over the rooftops, you discover familiar icons of the Brussels skyline: the gothic city hall tower, the green-copper domes of the Basilica of Koekelberg, the upper spheres of the Atomium. And perhaps your gaze also lingers on the countless construction cranes of the city that is constantly breaking and building.
High places are sought after in the city. Penthouses, as 'calm homes,' have the most expensive square meters. Some new towers have a shared rooftop terrace, which is only accessible to residents. The panorama at the Palace of Justice is one of the few freely accessible viewpoints in Brussels, where you can enjoy the sunset on clear days. And when the Ferris wheel is here, you can rise a little higher above the hustle and bustle for a small price.
