Olen or formally Olen-Centrum is the main place of the Belgian municipality of Olen. Sometimes the main place is also referred to by the parish name Sint-Martinus-Olen of the Sint-Martinus Church. Olen is located to the northeast of the village of Noorderwijk, a district of the city of Herentals, with which it is merged.
Olen is the oldest core of the municipality. It also forms the basis of the municipality. In Olen, prehistoric findings have been discovered that indicate early habitation of the area. Olen is first mentioned around the beginning of the 11th century when the St. Salvator Chapter in Utrecht acquired the rights to the area of Olen and Westerlo from Count Ansfridus, Bishop of Utrecht. Olen and Westerlo were then linked for centuries.
