The Queen Astrid Military Hospital, or MHKA for short, is the hospital of the Belgian Armed Forces. It is located in the Queen Astrid Quarter on the Bruynstraat in Neder-Over-Heembeek.
The Queen Astrid Military Hospital is a large and spacious hospital. The corridors are very wide, many wounded and stretchers could be placed there. The examination and treatment rooms are also extraordinarily large. This spacious layout is specifically designed for disasters and military emergencies. For example, the hospital was used after the Switel fire, the train disaster in Buizingen, the tsunami in Fukushima, the attacks of March 22, 2016 and the Corona crisis.
