The monumental installation ‘Colonnade’ by the architect duo Gijs Van Vaerenbergh can be found here in Baron Ruzette Park. Colonnade is one of the thirteen art and architecture installations of the third edition of ‘Triënnale Brugge 2021: TraumA’. The pavilion is a blend between a forest with impenetrable trees and a Roman colonnade and invites you to enter the space and wander among a hundred slanted columns. ‘Colonnade’ was specifically designed for the green surroundings of Baron Ruzette Park for the Triënnale. It is a mysterious installation that plays on the theme ‘TraumA’: the labyrinthine work balances between the present and the hidden. The installation ‘Colonnade’ feels like a labyrinth in which you find your way while bending down and may be confronted with a certain form of disorientation. As a result, the visitor experiences something that contrasts with the experience of a mapped-out, classic tourist visit.
