Anyone who wants to make amends should take the steep slope leading from the city to the Calvary chapel on the hill of Livremont. A simpler route is the path along the Rond Thier from the north. The Stations of the Cross were already present in the 17th century. It was the Capuchin monk Albert of Dinant who, in 1728, replaced the wooden crosses with a chapel and a large stone cross. The current neoclassical stations date back to 1913. The reliefs depicting Christ's Passion story were created by the artist Carl Burger from Aachen. Here and there, you can still see that these images were colored.
The forest on the hillside is of course natural, but it was established in the 19th century at the initiative of some citizens from Malmedy. Therefore, it should not surprise us that among the native trees and shrubs, there are also exotic ornamental species.
