Source: Willem Vandenameele

The current Blankenberge lighthouse, nicknamed the Comte Jean Jetty , was built between 1950 and 1954 in the Belgian port city.

Until 2009, the building under the tower housed a maritime museum .

A lighthouse is mentioned in Blankenberge as early as 1337 . The previous lighthouse was built between 1870 and 1872 and blown up by the German occupying forces in 1944. Before that stood a lighthouse from 1817 to 1873 at Fort Napoleon, which has since been demolished.
