Street art 'Horror Vacui' by Bisser in Leuven

The twentieth edition of the Artefact Festival in Leuven was a search for artistic answers to social questions. The key question was therefore the following: can art dispel loneliness? The theme 'Alone Together' zooms in on being alone, loneliness and connection. We are more connected than ever through our smartphones, yet loneliness is a growing problem in society. STUK asked international artists and musicians to get started with this.

For example, the well-known Leuven artist Bisser made a monumental mural on the entire side wall of Sac à Pain in Maria Theresiastraat. Bisser is not ready for his test piece because the Leuven resident has already worked on walls in Leuven, Ghent, Ibiza and New York.

In philosophy, horror vacui stands for the uncertainty of man, who cannot live with doubts and uncertainties and unanswered questions.
