FRESH WATER WALK 4,5KM - Quench your thirst at the Minnebron! Old Heverlee

The Fresh Water Walk starts in the Small Marshes forest reserve. After 500m we come to some interesting sights. The chapel of Our Lady of Steenbergen, a heritage gem in Oud-Heverlee that dates back to the 16th century. According to legend, you could be cured of 'hot fever' (swamp fever) if you came to pray at the chapel in a certain way. This made it a place of pilgrimage. Even more curious is the Minnebron. When you descend a few meters you end up here. At the moment the only controlled source in our country that has been labeled as drinkable. Since time immemorial, water has been drunk and tapped at the Minnebron that comes out of the ground here. After we have tasted the water we walk further and we go 200m along the Fresh Water. We cross the track and walk through a hollow to the Heverleebos. The walk runs in a triangle 1.5 km through the forest and then comes back to the same point. We are then about 3 km far. We walk back out of the Heverleebos and come back to the Zoet Water. We walk around the Zoet Water until we reach restaurant 'Spaans dak' and go back into the Kleine Moerassen. We go back to our starting point where the hike ends after a total of 4.5 km. This walk is definitely recommended for with children to do. It is only 4.5 km, moreover you walk a lot through the forest and along nice sights such as the spring. At the end of the walk there is also a large playground.
