Nivezé and the Second World War:
Monday, May 13, 1940 , Whit Monday, the Germans showed unexpected kindness. What was the surprise of the town clerk of Spa, Henri Jehin, when he heard a feldwebel tell about the evening of the previous day in Nivezé. A group of soldiers had spent the night drinking the 300 bottles of wine that were in the basement of a villa. The officer put a sum of 300 marks on the desk to repair the damage caused.
Thursday, October 3, 1940, an incident takes place in Nivezé. Two drunken German soldiers make a noise at night and try to annoy a villager on the pretext that hiding his house is not enough. Small in size, the Nivezétois is nevertheless known for its unusual muscular strength and the Teutonic soldiers do not lead far, especially as the drink has deprived them of all resources. The villager gave them a phenomenal beating and left them on the road.
