At the roundabout where Hoevestraat and Dorpsstraat meet, there is a statue dedicated to the cyclist Frans De Mulder. Frans De Mulder had a short but successful professional career between 1959 and 1963.
His most beautiful victory was the Vuelta of 1960. That year he also became Belgian champion on the road.
The statue is made of aluminum, the material with which his son Alain De Mulder has built a successful business. He also contributed to the creation of the statue. In addition, it is a frequently used metal in racing bicycles.
In the bottom right corner, there is a plaque with a poem by Roland Jooris, who succinctly describes De Mulder's cycling career in a few lines.
The aligned profiles of people and the mirror above the statue reference Roger Raveel.
