At the Gallows, at the highest point of Helshoven, you can now enjoy a breathtaking view over the Haspengouw landscape.
Artist Frits Jeuris designed a unique creation made from dozens of cut fruit trees from the area.
The youngest platform offers just a bit more. It is embedded in ‘Helsh(ea)ven’, a wooden artwork made from 90 high-stem cherry trees that are fifty years old. These trees fell victim to the Little Cherry Virus at the end of 2016, a contagious plant disease that causes cherries to bear fruit that are too small. Now the cut trees are getting a second life. The work symbolizes the dynamic landscape of Haspengouw.
In addition to the abbey tower, the crossroads in Nieuwenhoven, Honsberg in Zepperen, and the panorama basin in Velm, it is also the fifth panoramic point along the route network of Haspengouw.

Opposite the chapel of Helshoven you will find Hoevecafé Heirbaan66. You can enjoy a lovely coffee, beer, wine, or soft drink on the cozy terrace. In addition, they sell (among others homegrown) fruit and regional products. Ice creams are also available on warm days. From blossom to harvest, you can enjoy the Loonse Loungebar 66, a beautiful lounge amid the Haspengouw fields. Definitely worth a visit!
