LandMarck Kortrijk with its colorful mural and signage

Feeling like exploring a new part of Kortrijk? The former Van Marcke site has been revitalized; LandMarck is set to become a new residential and working neighborhood. But before that happens, it’s primarily a place created for and by the people of Kortrijk, forming a creative hub in the city.

Enter through the entrance to the left of the taller office building on the Van Marcke site (bike or walk past the barrier) and discover the fully painted wall. This artwork by artist Levi Jacobs is part of the site’s wayfinding system. If you take a moment to appreciate the piece, you’ll soon notice that it actually represents the map of LandMarck. The area is divided into different zones, each marked by its own specific color. The colorful lines on the floor guide you to the zone you’re looking for. Various figures in the mural depict the activities taking place on the site, with space for industry, sports, art, entertainment, and more. The woman in the upper left corner symbolizes the Van Marcke company and the architects who are monitoring and coordinating the current and future developments alongside the city of Kortrijk.
