Middle Brabant

Historically, the province of Flemish Brabant was divided into East, Middle, and West Brabant. Middle Brabant was the region of grapes and chicory. Middle Brabant is the Dutch-speaking area or rather 'the smart rectangle' bounded on the west side by Brussels-Capital, on the north side by the border with the province of Antwerp and the city of Mechelen, on the east side by the city of Leuven, and on the south side by the language border or the border with Walloon Brabant or Wallonia.

There is also a magazine called 'Midden-Brabant'. The cover features the municipalities: Hoeilaart, Overijse, Tervuren, Huldenberg, Oud-Heverlee, Kraainem, Wezembeek-Oppem, Bertem, Zaventem, Kortenberg, Herent, Machelen, the sub-municipality of Peutie, Steenokkerzeel, Kampenhout, Zemst, Boortmeerbeek, Haacht, and Keerbergen.

Kortenberg has always positioned itself as the center of Middle Brabant.
