From the Boom station, you can reach Noeveren in less than five minutes. Since 1986, this brick-making hamlet of Boom has been a protected village landscape. Recently, Brik Boom opened here. The municipality of Boom, Kempisch Landschap, and the vzw Emabb (Ecomuseum and Archive of the Boom Brick) restored a former brick factory into an experience center.
Here, you can vividly imagine what it must have been like, with the workers' houses clinging to the factory, the outdoor toilets, the leuzzes (drying sheds), the ring kiln with its gigantic chimney, the café, and the carpenter's workshop. "The whole family worked in the brick factory. Seven children were not uncommon. They opened the door in the morning and were immediately in the square," Annik explains.
"Brik Boom is aimed at groups; individual visitors are welcome from November to March every second Sunday from 2 to 5 PM, and from April to October every Sunday.
