We pass the so-called Dry Pond with a strikingly large overturned tree in its bed. Here you can also see beautiful marsh vegetation. With a bit of luck, you might spot a striking butterfly on a warm summer day in June: the Large Skipper butterfly. We cross Tumulidreef and walk past a patch of reed vegetation along the path. There used to be a pond here as well – now dried up. After a few hundred meters, we find ourselves in a worn, winding valley along the Vuylbeek where you can't see the end of the path. The Vuylbeek accompanies us here. On both sides of the plateaus, we see the famous beech cathedral. 180-year-old beeches stand shoulder to shoulder here, and their smooth trunks can be seen as the pillars of a Gothic cathedral as far as the eye can see. Enjoy the silence and seclusion of this little valley as well. Along the stream bed, you can find gold veil, a small plant with golden yellow miniature flowers. In the bed of the Vuylbeek, you can find round pebbles. They were on the beach of a sea that deposited sediments here millions of years ago.
